1 Peter 5:10
This verse has sustained and encouraged me since the first time I read it. I guess you can say it's my "life verse". It works on a macro and micro level. All of life is a struggle and one day, those who love Christ will rejoice with Him in Paradise. But within this struggle of a life, we have good and bad times, and at least in my experience, after God allows a struggle to persist for as long as it needs to bring us unto Himself, He always provides relief. This is why I love running. Running mimics the faith journey that Paul describes to in his epistles. The up-hills are tough but the down hills provide "reward" for the struggle. In the end, it all levels out, and you learn to enjoy the experience of running - you are thankful for the ability to do it at all.
So, as if that made any sense, here is our news.....
Steve got a call from the Charlotte Fire Department! We are so thankful, and while this is only step 3 in the process, it is a big step. He has an interview on Thursday and is very excited for the opportunity. We had to get him a new suit - along with the rest of his new growing wardrobe. No joke, the tailor laughed at us when we brought in a lot of his nice clothes - the size difference (44 or 42 waist down to a 36) is so huge that his clothes are unalterable!
As always, our prayer is that God's will be done in our lives, in whatever way that glorifies Him the most. Whether that is firefighting, training, or being a janitor - life is too precious to do anything less or different than what God desires.
On another note, our weekend in Charleston was AWESOME. It wasn't long, but it was perfect and included 2 great workouts, 2 awesome meals, a lovely afternoon stroll through down town Charleston, and some great alone time with each other. We need to do this more often :-)
Before our Saturday workout at the Bluefish Athletic Club that looks onto the water.
Pretty awesome how we stumbled upon a sweet fire station and their old sweat box gym! God definitely has a sense of humor :-)
